There’s some fantastic news on the InterNations front this week! Ever since we went online, InterNations has been present with 235 Local Communities all over the world. Now we’re ready to go further: Within the next couple of days, 10 to 15 new Local Communities will be created, probably including cities like Manchester, Ras al Kaimah, Valencia, Denver, Calgary, Bologna, or Gothenburg. And this will only be the first installment in a whole series of new Local Communities, which will be added in regular intervals over the coming months.
It has been one of our long-cherished projects to provide new Local Communities for InterNations members in places where we haven’t been present with a dedicated community so far. Only a few years after the birth of InterNations, many of our members live in cities which simply were not on our radar of expat hotspots when we first started. However, it is very important to us to reach out to all of you through our Local Communities, as we feel they are a defining feature of the InterNations network. So, after a long planning process, we are happy to announce that all technical obstacles have been removed and all administrative hurdles cleared. We’re ready to expand!
And to make sure that our members can immediately enjoy the benefits of partaking in an active InterNations Community, we are hoping to recruit a local Ambassador for every new Local Community prior to its going live. So if you live in a city with lots of InterNations members which does not have its own Local Community yet, this might be your chance to get involved!
Do you enjoy organising events, connecting with people online and offline, and would you like to make a difference in the InterNations community? Or do you know someone else who fits this description? Please get in touch with our Community Management team ([email protected]), or check out the Ambassador page on InterNations for more information!
We are all very excited about this development, and while the whole undertaking will require a lot of joint efforts from our IT and Community Management teams, we are positive that we will be able to announce the opening of the first batch of new Local Communities here very soon. Watch this space!

Hi!
I subscribed to InterNations since I have recently moved abroad and one of my friends suggested your community, but unfortunately I haven’t found my host city in your list.
I hope you’ll be soon in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK)!
Cheers
Stefania from Italy, Milan

Hi Stefania
Newcastle is not in the first series of new Local Communities I’m afraid, but that doesn’t mean there will not be one in the near future. At the moment, your nearest place with a Local InterNations Community is Edinburgh, but we will be opening one in Manchester very shortly. In the meantime, if you would like to meet up with other InterNations members in Newcastle, try to find people who are interested via our Local Forums or the World Forum. You could of course also create your own Local Group, invite your friends to InterNations and start organising small get-togethers! Check out the InterNations Groups page, or contact [email protected] for more information.
Cheers
