3  Important Takeaways from Exploring Our Own Product

13 December 2022 · by Margit Grobbel

Three of our team members share what they’ve learned from attending events and activities.

InterNations offers up to 6,000 events worldwide every year. That’s 6,000 opportunities to meet interesting, international people, both face-to-face and online. And sometimes, event attendees may also run into us — members of the InterNations team.

InterNations is not only the largest international community for people who live and work abroad. Many of our team members are also expats and enjoy the chance to socialize with other global minds. Some of us have made use of our remote-first setup to move to a different city and are rebuilding personal networks. Others are just looking for people to share hobbies and interests with.

In any case, for InterNations team members from across the company, using our own product is eye-opening and inspiring. It helps unlock insights that you can’t get unless you experience the heart of our product — our events and activities — for yourself. Here’s what we learned this year.

Do you, too, sometimes postpone a task until the deadline is looming on the horizon — and then get anxious because there just doesn’t seem to be enough time left? Or do you find it hard to say no when your colleagues ask you for “just a tiny favor”, but the tiny favors keep piling up until you find yourself putting in extra hours to get your own projects done? If any — or even all — of these situations sound familiar, then at least you’re not alone.

Horizontal career moves are a great chance for your professional development.

Perks of the Job: The “Long Live Learning” Series

24 January 2019 · by Margit Grobbel

New Work means a commitment to life-long learning and the readiness to reinvent yourself.”

To be honest, the concept of “New Work” wasn’t yet on anyone’s mind when we asked for suggestions on how to call the first learning and development program for the InterNations Team. However, by opting for “Long Live Learning”, we chose a name that highlights the life-long importance of acquiring new skills and growing as a person — and, of course, one that emphasizes that learning can and should be fun!

What “Long Live Learning” Is All About

Once a month, our team members can join a two-hour workshop or expert talk at the InterNations office in Munich. The main aim is to present a variety of job-related topics during short after-work “taster sessions”.
