First of all, a big thank you to everyone who took part in the first round of the InterNations Survey Series: Striving for Global Excellence. The turnout was great, and we gathered a lot of valuable information, comments and feedback from our members. Your responses have raised our awareness of our strengths, while at the same time giving us an idea of our members’ needs and expectations. We have taken your suggestions on board and will address them in our agenda for the upcoming months. With your help, we can make InterNations an even more valuable resource for our members!
We would like to take this opportunity to share some of the preliminary findings with you. These findings are the result of a first analysis of your answers to Part 1 of our Survey Series. A more detailed evaluation is still to come and will doubtlessly bear great potential for further enhancements to the InterNations website.
Being an expat network, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that more than 80% of our members are currently living outside of their home country. At the same time, the majority of those who are currently living in their country of origin have plans to move abroad in the near future. Roughly one quarter of InterNations members have either just come to a new country or are in the midst of preparing for their next move abroad.
Meeting people and making friends with other expats is one of the main incentives for becoming an active InterNations member. We were pleased and very proud to hear that an overwhelming majority of you have been successful in their efforts to connect with fellow expats and global minds – thanks to InterNations!
It is no surprise then that InterNations Events and other offline activities are rated highly by our members. Most of you attend our worldwide events to get together with fellow InterNations members in real life, be it for making international friends, meeting new business contacts, or dating. This has encouraged us to expand our InterNations Events by adding more local activities and diverse event formats over the coming months.
With a lot of survey participants expressing an interest in professional networking, we are very keen to offer our members more opportunities to do so in the future: We are currently working on a new Groups Section and have already started Business Networking Groups in several cities.
Last but not least, we are pleased to announce the winner of our raffle prize: The lucky owner of a brand new Apple iPad2 is Alexandre Gruss from Germany, currently living in Shanghai. And all of you who didn’t win this time round – don’t worry, for here is your next chance:
Part 2 of the InterNations Survey Series: Striving for Global Excellence will be all about your opinion on essential expat information. It’s due to go online next week, so watch this space for more information and another opportunity to win one of our fantastic raffle prizes!
