A big “thank you” to all InterNations members who took the time to participate in our survey on Global Car Brands. As we are constantly looking to improve our services for our global expat community, everyone’s opinion is valued and will hopefully enable us to provide more relevant information and special offers for our members. The survey had a great turn-out and revealed some interesting results, so we would like to take this opportunity to share the findings with you.
It turns out that 43 % of InterNations members drive quality cars of world-class makes. This is a significantly higher share than the nation-wide average of, for example, Germany, the home of the top four global car brands named by InterNations members: BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche. Although many Germans place a high value on quality and perceive their car as an important status symbol, the market share of premium cars is only 27 %.
Of the 77 % of InterNations members who regularly drive a car, more than three quarters own a private car. Functionality, driving pleasure, design and efficiency are the four most important criteria for our members when buying a new car. With over 75 % of InterNations members having a high enough income to buy premium cars and more than 80 % planning to purchase a new car within the next 18 months, it is no surprise that interest in special offers is high: Most InterNations members would be happy to see targeted offers from a recommended global car manufacturer on our website. These could include invitations to global events, test drives, new model presentations or driver training.
Given a clear preference for BMW cars among premium car drivers within InterNations InterNations Expat Event BMW Munich 2010, we are delighted to present BMW as our new Global Automotive Partner and hope that this partnership will result in many exciting offers for our members. Our Munich members could already acquire a taste of things to come at their community´s Christmas event, hosted at BMW´s Munich showrooms!
Last but not least, we would like to announce the lucky winner of our survey raffle: Congratulations to Maureen from Chile, currently living in Belgium, on her brand-new Apple iPad!
