The COVID-19 pandemic has forced just about everyone to get creative and adapt — including the InterNations Team. Our Community Engagement Leads Miriam and Nichelle recount how their team rose to the challenge and introduced a brand-new kind of event that’s here to stay!
Many of the team members at InterNations are expats themselves and can relate to both the positive and the challenging sides of life abroad. In particular, we know how tough it can be to find new friends in a foreign country. Even though it can be difficult at times, we can at least count on our colleagues for support. And it is hardly surprising that some of the strong bonds at work develop into lasting friendships.
To celebrate the International Day of Friendship on 30 July — a day honoring peaceful, friendly interactions and non-violence among all people and nations — several colleagues share how they have bonded and become friends at work. More than 120 team members with more than 40 nationalities are currently working at InterNations, and they can confirm what Human Resource Team Lead Christa Fellner says: “Diversity is at the heart of our team here, and we think it’s really important to celebrate that.”
21 June is the International Day of Yoga. To mark this special occasion, we’re discussing the role that yoga plays at InterNations and for our team.
In 1974, 5 June became World Environment Day, established by the UN to encourage worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. That’s why today is the perfect occasion to present an update on the Sustainability Initiative at InterNations. In May, we organized our first theme month to get the team involved. “Be our hero — be waste zero!” was our motto. Here, we’re going to give you an overview of our activities for Zero Waste Month, as well as plenty of advice on how to reduce waste, both at home and at the office.
When her internship was coming to an end, we asked our Social Media Intern Darcie to sum up her experiences at the InterNations office in Munich.
