Voting has now begun for the teams which will be taking part in the big InterNations Race Singapore! A total of 6 teams have now made it into the final selection. However, before they get the opportunity to prove their knowledge, endurance, appetite, patience, intelligence and team working skills on the big race day April 16th, they will face one more challenge: Your vote!

All teams have been asked to prepare short video clips to introduce themselves to the InterNations community and make it easier for everyone to pick their favourite team. These videos are now up on the dedicated InterNations Race Singapore event page, where they can be watched and rated by all InterNations members. You can show your support for a team by simply clicking the Like button below their video. You can of course support more than one team, but only the team with the most votes will receive the special INRS Video Award.

People of 60 different nationalities combine to make the InterNations Singapore Community one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing Local Communities in Asia, with close to 4000 members. The monthly InterNations events organised by our Local Ambassadors are always popular and well-attended: We hope the InterNations Race Singapore will meet with equal enthusiasm and success, not least since a lot of effort has gone into the preparation of this event – both from our side (thanks to Community Management and IT at InterNations!) and of course from the local INRS planning committee (pictured above). So, to keep things short: We hope you enjoy the voting, and good luck to all participating teams! We shall of course keep you posted and announce the winning team here.

“Thank you Hendrik for picking a nice venue – real pity you couldn’t enjoy the friendship – we all missed you. So some 20 of us from 9 countries (the youngest 2 years old) finally made it there and had a wonderful time. The smaller than usual number offered the great opportunity for a better and closer fellowship. There was a nice blend of “regulars” as well as “new comers to the island”, with a special welcome to the Atanasoki family from Switzerland and the lovely Mehendale couple transferring from IN-HKG, among several others. Thanks again to all who braved the huge traffic jam and were able to meander their way to the venue.

Appreciation also to PICOTIN’s management for reserving a nice & cosy corner and sponsoring the “Lucky Draw” featuring a $100 worth dinner voucher! And the winner is: Ms. Tara with mobile No. XXXX3769. CONGRATULATIONS ! < Note that the name of the winner was purposely withheld, yet rest assured that neither Hendrik nor I participated and the draw was made by PICOTIN’s management.>”

Singapore spectacular—Friday 6—IN-Gathering

“We were delighted to welcome many newcomers who were quickly involved in lively discussions with “IN-regulars”. About seventy IN-members and friends of 21 different nationalities enjoyed this event. Many thanks to all who made it again a success.

The “live band” was great, despite the sound system “working over-limits”… All in all, the venue was quite spectacular enjoying the evening breeze under the World’s Greatest Flyer.

The outlet’s staff was not used to having so many diners all at once, yet things worked-out in the end. While the venue was declared “great”, let’s give the outlet’s management & staff some time to adjust since they opened just a few months ago…”

This year’s last InterNations event for the Singapore Community was hosted by Ambassador Peter Gerber at Bobby’s @ Cuppage; it was extremely well-attended by guests from more than twenty nations, who braved the torrential downpour outside and were determined to enjoy the evening. Even one Italian InterNations member on holiday as well as a newly arrived German couple joined the crowd, delighted to get in touch with other expats in Singapore and to get a special Christmas offer by the Bobby’s staff. Thanks to everybody for their support, warm smiles and general enthusiasm!

Last Friday, on November 7, the InterNations Singapore Community saw another great crowd of over 80 guests altogether invade the Beer Cellar for an evening of friendship, fun and drinks. While some unfortunately missed the event due to the prevailing “flu bug” or to last-minute deadlines at works, the members who did come had a great time. It was rewarding for our Ambassador Peter Gerber to welcome so many new-comers, both expats recently arrived on the island as well as a newly-wed couple on their honeymoon; indeed, these were first to arrive on the dot of 7:30 … just to make sure they would not miss out.

Of course, it was encouraging, too, to see several regulars making the effort to briefly pop in before proceeding to other appointments. A cordial ‘thank you’ from Peter for this courtesy, and a special ‘thank you’ to Terri and Denni Jayme for helping him make this event yet another success. While business unfortunately kept our second Ambassador, Hendrik Bohne, in the Middle East, he will hopefully join the community at the next gathering.

Fortunately, nobody got lost in Singapore’s busy business district while trying to make their way to the latest InterNations Get-Together in town. This time, Our Ambassador Peter Gerber had wisely provided a distinct sign that helped his numerous guests find the event venue at the Beer Cellar. Members from almost twenty nations came to join him at this favourite expat hangout on October 3.

The management of the cosy mixture between pub and sports bar – unlike you might expect, there’s more to this place than ‚just‘ a pint of cool beer — had kindly offered special conditions for InterNations members, which was, of course, greatly appreciated. But the personal welcome for every member (a big thank you to Eileen Sung, whose constant smile warmed everybody’s heart) was at least just as pleasant. The new-comers were also given name-tags to help them mingle more easily and make new contacts and friends soon.

This event has already been called ‚another great evening‘ by many guests, and Hendrik Bohne, the second Ambassador, might almost regret that he couldn’t attend, doing his duty as ‚best man‘ at a wedding back home in Germany…
