Before the beginning of the more festive holiday season, Bogotá Ambassador Eduardo Cardenas organized a special treat for all the partygoers in his Local Community. Several dozens of InterNations members joined him for a bar crawl through the nightlife of the Colombian capital. During this exuberant tour, there was a location to suit everybody’s taste: from the meeting point at London Calling, a British-style pub, over a cocktail bar with a “two for one” happy hour and a lounge with electric music to a couple of nightclubs to hit the dancefloor. Some guests continued dancing until five o’clock in the morning; rumour has it that our Ambassador then slept the following Sunday away…

The Museo del Oro is one of the most important and most famous museums in Bogotá, as it holds the greatest collection of golden artworks all over the world. After being closed for renovation for a long while, it opened its doors to the Colombian and international public again: Over 1,500 exhibition pieces that had remained undisclosed in the museum archives before are now on display for the very first time.

The InterNations Ambassador in Bogotá, Eduardo Cardenas, and the members of our Local Community didn’t want to miss this excellent opportunity and decided to visit the exhibition together. After a tour of the museum, some friendly volunteers showed around those who weren’t quite acquainted with Bogotá’s historical city centre yet: La Candelaria is a popular tourist attraction for good reason, as its cobbled lanes include the great Plaza Bolivar, several churches from the colonial era, like the 19th-century town cathedral, and eminent cultural institutions, for example, the national library.

The stroll through the beautiful streets ended as a perfect Sunday afternoon should — with a cup of coffee and a plate of Colombian food.

Madrid, however, was not the only Local Community of InterNations to celebrate Halloween last Friday: To end the month of October with a veritable bang, a group of merrily costumed members first met up with our Bogotá Ambassador Eduardo Cardenas — see if you can spot him — at Postigo, a lively beer place, cocktail bar and party location in the Colombian capital. After making good use of the “Two for one” special offer on drinks, they moved on to a huge private party at one of Eduardo’s friends, where the Joker ran across the Batgirl, a Jedi knight hugged a cartoon robot, and cowgirls posed next to manga heroines. InterNations Ambassador Eduardo Cardenas had intended to have a good time with the members of ‚his‘ Bogotá Community – but their spontaneity thwarted his plans and provided for a great night indeed. First of all, twice as many members as had originally confirmed their attendance showed up on the evening of September 26. Quite a few had decided on short-term notice to change their mind and enjoy some well-deserved fun on a Friday night, or they chose to bring along some friends to introduce them to InterNations.

No wonder that ‘merely’ having a glass of beer and a good laugh wasn’t quite enough for this crowd. Around midnight, some of the expats from Belgium, Brazil, the UK, the US, Venezuela and their Colombian friends then moved on to a nightclub with live music and barman shows, unwilling to return home until the wee hours of the morning.
